Our demand for mobile phones is contributing to the decline of gorillas in the wild. Learn how mobile phones are linked to gorilla habitat and how setting up a mobile phone recycling campaign can support the Gorilla Doctors to carry out important conservation work saving gorillas in Africa.

Out west where Werribee Open Range Zoo is located, we have some amazing species such as the Plains Wanderer, the Growling Grass Frog and the Eastern Barred Bandicoot. Unfortunately they’re all threatened species. Zoos Victoria is working hard to fight their extinction however, we can’t do it on our own – we need your help! Join us to learn who your local species are and what schools can do to save local wildlife.

Thursday 29 November – Fighting Extinction Schools Web Conference: Raising Rhinos
Werribee Open Range Zoo is home to a herd of Southern White Rhinoceros, a species under threat because of poaching for their horn.  Zoos Victoria works to fight the extinction of rhinos by working with conservation partner Rhino Fund Uganda (RFU).  RFU are working in Africa to re-establish a population of rhinos at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary.  Learn more about what it takes to care for rhinos both here at Werribee Zoo and what the rangers are doing at Ziwa Sanctuary to help rhinos in the wild.
